Outsmarted again

Remember the debacle when I brought the anti-barker into the house? Yeah, it keeps getting better.

Madison doesn't care. She barks and the device shrieks. She stops. She waits patiently for the thing to shut up and then she barks again. She acknowledges the shrieking but it has no effect on her whatsoever. Monty seems a little taken aback by it, but still he's not too worried. Vicki still thinks the bookshelves are out to get her. But Maddy?? Nothing.

However, Lyn yelled at me for taking her Cheezies and quietened down quite quickly when the device went crazy. She's learning fast, that sister of mine.

Did I mention I put it on the highest setting so Lyn would stop setting it off?

I'm one wild and crazy gal

You have to say that in Steve Martin's voice or it totally ruins what I am going for.

Last night, I got home from work. Lyn was going out so I knew I had the whole evening to myself. I went on a long relaxing walk with the dogs, came home, read a book for a bit and then climbed into bed. At 10:15.

It's now 10:22, so at least I don't have to feel like as big a loser.

You know, I hear some people have lives and stuff.

It must be the time of year

Someone commented the other day that I seem sad. That my writing seems sad. They are not wrong, but I have noticed an interesting trend amoungst the blogger world. Lots of us are sad right now. It ranges from mildly sad to outright depressed. Which makes me think - if it's not just me, I wonder what the problem is?

I have been a little low lately. Work politics have been exhausting this month. Stress of home and Dad and the sale of his place and the care of the dogs and financial worries and all that are really weighing down on me. And yet, I'm not entirely sure that's it, really.

I'm worried about money (as always) because when you come from having just enough money and never enough at the same time - it is always a concern. I crave stability and yet cannot seem to provide it for myself. I'm worried about my house and the things I need (and want) to do with it, but have no knowledge of how to do anything. I worry about Dad and his place and his upcoming nuptials. I'm worried for my siblings and my dogs and my coworkers. It's funny that I have learned to separate myself from work issues, but not from personal issues.

But my plan is to ignore it for now. I will keep looking for humour amidst the dulldrome and just keep going until I'm all happy again.

Either that or I will just eat chips.

The sound of silence

I love silence. Some people don't understand it, but I relish in the quiet. When Lyn isn't home, it is rare for me to have the TV on or music or anything of the sort. I have driven 10 hours by myself with no music on. I love silence. I crave it. I need it to maintain this incredible good humour of mine. And yet, I am constantly surrounded by people who need background noise.

I find it wearying.

Poor crazy grandma guilt trip

We are horrible grandchildren. We forgot about Grandma. Thanksgiving is approaching and until today, we forgot to see what Grandma is doing. Oops.

What is Grandma doing for Thanksgiving? Nothing.

She doesn't like to travel, so she doesn't want to come with us for Thanksgiving. Which is okay. It would likely be too hectic for her anyways. And she doesn't much care about holidays in particular, she will celebrate them any day.

So we will visit afew weeks later. Which makes her quite happy. However as a parting comment to Ky, Grandma said "I have reconciled myself to the fact that my grandchildren don't visit."

Buster will love me

Liza Minelli plays Lucille 2 in Arrested Development.

This is Buster. In the show, he is in love with Lucille 2.

To discribe Lucille 2 to his mother (Lucille) he uses this line, "She is brown, she has points and I love her."

I got a haircut yesterday. When I was done, I look like a mix between Liza and Cera from Land Before Time.

Yeah, I'm hot.

Overnight Crazy Dumbness

My OCD tendancies are getting the best of me. Normally, it's a joke. I'm overly anal about somethings and need things to be a certain way. I have said to a roommate in the past, "I'm not comfortable with the meat being on that shelf in the fridge." and I have meant it. She agreed with me, but that's not my point.

Tonight, I woke up and let the dogs out to pee. I usually wake up at least once during the night, so I have inadvertantly (sorry Lyn!) trained the dogs to get up as well. Tonight, I was in the washroom and heard the dogs come back in. So, I went out - checked for stray doggies left outside (Vicki is a tricky one) and locked the door.

Back in my room, Maddy and Monty are asleep again. I assume Vicki went to Lyn's room, so I climb into bed. My mind starts going over the possibility that I left Vicki outside and she will freeze. My mind tells me to check Lyn's room. However, I know if I do this, I will wake Vicki up, she will leave Lyn and come to my room. Thus causing Lyn to hate me.

I couldn't sleep. I went over why I knew Vick wasn't outside, but nothing could calm me. Then I thought I heard the furnace on. Well, that won't do, so I got out of bed to make sure it was turned off. And, while I was up, checked Lyn's room to make sure Vicki was in. She was.

I've now only had two and a half hours of sleep. I'm no longer tired. What's funny is that a friend was telling me only tonight how she did the same thing over a dream about an unpaid power bill.

We, my friends, have issues.

Blogger is annoying me. It will not work today. So this is a test. I am annoyed.

House training

A few weeks ago, I ordered an anti-barking device. The dogs have been driving me crazy - barking incessantly at everything, so I thought I would give this a try. It arrived today, so I excitedly set it up and waited.

It didn't take long until one of the dogs saw a squirrel. They all went mental - barking like mad. The little black box emitted a loud shriek and scared the crap out of them. They barked again, it shrieked. They realized they weren't allowed to bark. (However, Vicki is now scared of the shelves along the wall as she thinks they are screaming at her.)

I spent a pleasant afternoon napping while the dogs growled occasionally, but never barked. I was thrilled with my new purchase. It wasn't until Lyn got home that I realized we may have problems.

As I was in the kitchen making supper, Lyn was looking at the pictures from the new Harry Potter movie. Upon seeing Harry's horrendously new short haircut, Lyn screeched.

The anti-bark machine did too.

******************************************
Just so you don't think it was just Lyn. Later that evening while watching TV in the livingroom, I drank a Coke and let out a burp. The anti-bark machine went off.

I had to turn it off the rest of the night.

Apparently, we're loud.

Oh cable, why doest thou hate me?

My shows start in 11 mins. My cable has been down for over an hour. They have promised me I will be able to watch Bones, but I fear in my heart that I will miss my David tonight. The whole area is down. Something to do with the main cable box. I keep imagining it has been tampered with, but then I realized that teens would never do this. TV is important to them too.

I need a life. But then I would miss my shows.
