Jon and Kate are destroying our relationship

The Guy and I are working on developing a TV viewing pattern. We don't have a lot of shows in common, so the channels we view tend to stay on one of three -- The Discovery Network, Home and Garden, and TLC. We can compromise on these channels. I watch How things are made (aka SO BORING I COULD DIE) and he watches Cake Boss (aka Charming and surprisingly funny). We were getting along until Jon and Kate plus 8 came on.

The Guy: I will give you a million dollars if you change the channel right now.
Me: You don't like this show?
The Guy: No. I cannot stand it.
[In Unison]
The Guy
: I feel so sorry for Jon.
Me: I feel so sorry for Kate.
[Deafening silence]
The Guy: She was such a b*tch to him.
Me: He was such a child.
The Guy: ...
Me: I'm not sure we can be together any more. It's like I don't even know you.

I'm getting my own television next week.

  1. Number of television sets required for happy household = n+1, where n is the number of people living in said house.

  2. But if you really work at it, your can do n≤1, as long as you have good internet connections on the computer.

  3. There are so many other good shows on tv. And Jon & Kate Plus 8 is heartbreaking because they are selling thier children's childhood. Think Dionne Quints.

  4. You know he's right.

Nothing is ever good enough for her (the peacock, as I call her) and she is the personification of a killjoy. She is a pretty terrible person. All she cares about is being on TV. It's gotten out-of-hand and she's too enamored with the trappings of the lifestyle to abandon it now (probably him too, but it's obvious with her).

I don't feel sorry for him though as he just added about 15 years to his life expectancy.

  5. I've never seen the show, but the blog post is awesomely funny.

  6. I think they both suck, but generally I'm with my brother that's she's nasty. Ugh, don't tell him I agreed with him though.

I think she's a complete narcissist. Besides, why would anyone with that many kids have such complicated hair?

  7. He should have spoken up years ago. He's passive-aggressive, and he let her treat him badly for years until it was too much for him. Then he left her with no choice.

I feel bad for both of them...their marraige is ending. I think that's sad.
