Empty nest

Dad arrived home from Ukraine for a few months. We dropped him off at his place tonight after picking him up at the airport and he said something I have been dreading for months. He told me I could drop his dogs off tomorrow.

I don't want to.

I like them. For the incredible amounts of work they are and the constant attention they need and the poop eating and the barking and all that, I really like them. And I want to keep them. Boo hiss on Dad for wanting his puppies back. I say possession is 9/10ths of the law, man.

It will be very lonely for us when they go. Madison, however, will be thrilled. I imagine she will do what everyone does when they finally have time alone. Walk around the house naked and drink from the milk jug.

Or is that just me?

  5. I'm pretty sure that Ky's covering her eyes and reciting the "Lord's Prayer" right now.

  6. Mary, you forgot that first she jumped 4 feet away from her computer, landed in the fetal position. Ky is never one for underreaction.

  7. I did none of those things. I mentally said, "Yikes" and that's about it.
