Left picture is Maddy on my bed the night before she gave birth to the puppies on Lyn's bed. (I still think that's funny.) Maddy kept hiding under my pillow with just her head and legs sticking out. It was super cute.
Right picture is one of the puppies (I think it's Monty) a day or so after they were born. He was so tiny he fit in the palm of Lyn's hand. Now? He is longer than his Mom and almost as fat. And way more trouble.
Today Dad came over with the pups for a bit. They were all playing outside and stuff while I cleaned. Dad asked me about a book we used to read when we were kids called Pokey Little Puppy. The story is about a puppy who is always way behind his playmates because he's looking at butterflies and things. Dad said he wanted to find it admist the box of books he has in the basement. When I asked what he wanted it for, he confessed... he wants to read it to Vicki.
I swear, he loves those dogs way more than he did us! I remember the stories he read us as kids. Three Little Bears where Baby Bear was doing tricks on the lawn. And Dad's favourite line "We still don't know who Trix is". Sigh... no wonder I am warped.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...your dad!!
ReplyDeleteYour dad is crazy. I remember meeting him at Agribition when we were looking at baby ducks. Anyway, the mental image of him reading that Little Golden Book to his puppy made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of the Pokey Little Puppy. I read it to my roommates on time on the way to church. Everytime I read "Where is that pokey little puppy?" I did a voice like Brian Fellows.
ReplyDeleteThat puppy's so cute I want to kiss it on top of the head, and my nose right up to his wee little nose. I enlarged the picture to full screen and made crazy noises that meant "that's a cute puppy." I forgot when they were so tiny.
ReplyDeleteI too have a copy of the pokey little puppy, should he still need it!
