You will not cage me, Woman!

In our house there is a hallway leading from the main room to the garage. There is no carpet in this hallway and we figured it would be a perfect spot to leave Monty when we go out. We figured neither of us would be out for any extended period of time that the hallway would not be perfectly fine for Monty to stay in. We bought a little gate that fit the doorway, put his bed and bowl inside and shut Monty in.

Friday, we left him for 3 hours. He was hyper and out of control when we got back, but otherwise, he was unscathed.

Today we left him for the duration of the football game and supper afterward. We came back after 6 hours to hear Monty howling at our arrival. We opened the door and there was Monty! Knowing we had left him in his little room, we assumed he figured out how to push the gate from the door jam. However, the gate was still in place. Monty had made a leap for it and completely cleared the gate.

We may have to rethink our plan.

  1. Good man, Monty. First place in Doggy Olympics, Neutered toothy toilet brush class.

Do you HAVE to pen him up? Can you not just close the doors to places you don't want him?

  2. What do you mean "may have to re-think"?

I think Monty is way ahead of you on this one!
