Winter wonderland

Winter has officially started in Saskatchewan. It has snowed it's freakin' ass off for 4 days. I have shovelled the walk 5 times this week. That is more than I shovelled the whole time I lived at home.

Today I had a meeting at 4pm. I went to pick up my Dad before hand to pick up his van.* This should have taken me about 10 minutes. It took 30 minutes to get there and 45 mins to get back. So, needless to say, I missed my meeting.

I love snow. In theory. I love the soft, fluffy snow. I love gentle snow falling at 3 in the morning making all the trees covered with frost and the air sparkle in the cold. I love the look of different shades of white making things look so clean.

What I hate? Wind chilll. That drops the temperature with every gust and makes everything unbearable. I hate the icy streets that make everyone drive like buttholes. That's what I hate.

Oh well, only 7 months left to go.

*Story of the van. Dad reported his van stolen this past weekend. He went in to watch the rodeo and when he came out, the van was gone. Today, the police called Dad. It was still in the parking lot, just across from where he thought he had parked. Dad asked the police if there was a fine for being terminally stupid.

  1. I have to say it: Praise the Lord! Seriously, your Dad's van not being stolen? That's like the best news ever. Although hilarious.

  2. That's like the best story ever (about the van). Your life is life a sitcom. Well, I'm glad it's not stolen. Hope you are able to get some sleep soon!

  5. I know, it is the funniest thing ever. I'm glad it's not stolen too. And no, there isn't another side to the parking lot. It was just across from where he thought he'd parked. He's a silly man.

  6. Chris and I have established that, some day, he is going to end up doing the exact same thing. And his reasoning will be, "No, I have a perfect memory and I remember the exact spot where I parked this car! It is not in this exact spot and so it must be stolen! That is the only explanation. Because my memory is perfect."

It's going to happen. We both know it.

  7. A friend once reported a car stolen only to find it parked around the corner from her house a month later with many parking tickets under the wipers. Seems her brother moved it 1 day and didn't tell her...
