Content in the moment

Here it is, Christmas evening.  I have Christmas carols playing -- the first I have played this season apart from turning on the "all Christmas all the time" radio station by accident.  I am cuddled here on the couch, thoroughly stuffed from the huge Christmas dinner, dog by my feet and carols in my ears.  The tree is glowing, the presents are all unwrapped and I am feeling content.

This year was a different Christmas for me, but a good one.  All my immediate family is spread all over the world -- mostly in the West part of our country and one in the East part of Europe.  This is my first Christmas without any of them and, while it is lonely, I've had a good couple of days.  It's my first married Christmas and we had The Guy's family over today.  It was wonderful.  Everything went well, nothing burned, the food was plentiful and I am pleased with it all.

I hope you all are having a wonderful day too and are surrounded by people you love.

  3. Glad your first "daughter-in-law Christmas" went well. It was good to talk to you and Wade. (I am so glad Skype is working for me now).
    Love you very much.

  4. I could have written the same post yesterday night. I'm glad that your Christmas Day went well, and you didn't mind that we stole two out of three of your siblings for the holidays.
